Echo is non-profit wildlife conservation organization dedicated to protecting the Yellow-shouldered Amazon parrots and it's habitat on Bonaire. Echo's Conservation Center is home to parrots that came to us as confiscation from the illegal pet trade or as injured wild parrots.
The parrot keeper volunteer's main duties will be morning food preparation & feeding of the parrots, aviary maintenance & cleaning, monitoring the health and behaviour of the captive parrots, collection of wild fruits, assisting with training & health checks of the captive parrots and any other onsite jobs related to parrot husbandry.
The ideal volunteer will need their own transport to be able to get to Echo's site in Dos Pos (Rincon). They will also be a physical fit and proactive individual who loves nature and is willing to get hands on. Full training will be provided so previous experience isn't needed. Echo's biggest need is reliability and consistency so we can ensure the best standard of welfare to our parrots.
The volunteer will work within a dynamic & small team therefore sometimes they will work entirely independently and other times with one or two other people (staff or volunteers)
As a parrot sanctuary, work is available everyday, with tasks being primarily completed in the morning from 7:30am
Echo is looking for someone who can commit to recurring visits on a set day(s) of the week of their choosing for 4 hours per time.
there is no compensation for this voluntary position
